GEWA high performance finned tubes are the optimum solution for use in shell and tube heat exchangers for compression refrigeration equipment. The microstructurated surface of extruded finned tubes for refrigeration technology allow considerably improved heat transfer. Their efficiency amounts to that of a considerably more conventional low finned tube.

For compact designs of shell-and-tube heat exchangers for flooded evaporation, tubes with high-performance structures are necessary. The structure of the outside surface of GEWA-B tubes is designed in such a way as to particularly enhance the evaporation process. Small channels 'heated' by a high heat flux from inside the tube cause an intensive development of bubbles resulting in high performance of the tube. Evaporation tubes, like condensation tubes, are available with different types of inside structures tailored to specific requirements.

A high-performance outside structure can be combined with different inside structures. The GEWA-C outside structure has been specially designed for the condensation process thus enhancing condensation and ensuring a quick run-off of the condensed refrigerant. For waters where fouling processes may be expected, the so-called 'low-fouling' structure is recommended. This inside structure has gentle, wavelike fins with a self-cleaning effect. Condensation tubes with this type of structure are called GEWA-CLF tubes.
