Electronics cooling for highest densities with 3M™ Novec™ Engineered Fluid

Two-Phase Immersion Cooling is an innovative technology for server cooling by immersing them in a bath of non-electrically conductive and is a breakthrough for data center efficiency. This passive two-phase cooling technology has the potential to save up to 97% in energy usage compared to traditional air-cooling methods, thus reducing the need for most traditional air cooling infrastructure.

2-phases cooling process:

  • Cooling with evaporation of Novec™ Engineered Fluid
  • Condensing of refrigerant vapor with thermal solutions condenser unit

The condenser unit

The heat exchanger for the re-cooling is equipped with enhanced surface GEWA-C5 tubes. The high efficiency of the tube surfaces tubes enables the condensation of the Novec™ Engineered Fluid in a very limited space on top of the cooling tank.

The GreenICE™ System is based on the principle of 2-phase immersion cooling. The technology comprises 3M™ Novec™ 649 Engineered Fluids as refrigerant, a heat exchanger made by Wieland and HPC hardware with very high density from Extoll.
